Today's Geoff Meeting...

Geoff had a nice meeting today to share our designs for a current brief to design a range of wrapping papers. A mixture of exciting designs and Shannon getting snappy-happy made for a typically lovely meet.

Geoff Products

They're a little late, admittedly but here are the photos of our Geoff products that were pitched to a selection of Edinburgh based retail buyers. Everyone did such an amazing job coming up with their own product designs, all of which were executed smashingly. Thanks to John McGregor who took some lovely photos of the products for us.

ECA Fashion Show, 2010

Shannon, Kari and myself were assigned a project to design proposals for the college's upcoming fashion show promotions. The work had to involve the design of a poster, a programme, a ticket and and a mailer as well as a piece of ambient advertising. After we attained lots of inspirational imagery from all of the Geoffersons, we developed a concept based on the theme of revealing the students' final collections through a series of elusive layers. Mysterious imagery became obscured by folds, disguising the photography and the model so that it becomes abstract. Alongside this the use of trace reiterated the notion of layers that were evident in the photography, creating an outcome that appealed to the viewer's curiosity to discover more about what was to come.
The project will be ongoing and further developed into a great portfolio piece, so I'm sure there will be more updates about it to come.

Well done, Roy!

Roy was awarded best in show for her products completed for our latest Geoff project. Each Geoff designed their own designer product which were all pitched to Edinburgh based retail buyers. A Dragon's Den style set up followed and ultimately lead to Roy's mugs be announced the buyers' favourite. The lush mug set was based around typography styles and became a range of mugs in regular, slimline, bold and italics. Well done, Roy!

Geoffmas Card

A wee picture of the Geoff Christmas cards we mailed out over the festive season. We decided to give everyone the gift of a white christmas, this year, and so filled each card with paper "snow" that was punched out of the card's back. The snow tumbled out on opening and brought a winter snowfall to the receiver, without any need for gloves or even a hat!

Geoff Christmas Jumper

Sophie, one of our aspiring Geoffersons stitched our logo on a little Christmas jumper during the development for our highly anticipated Christmas 2009 cards. We think she did a brilliant job and deserves to be named Geoff's Employee of the Month!

Lets get down to business

We were using a lot of newsprint to test our the inks when printing Geoff's business cards recently. It just so happened that this fine chappy was on one of the sheets that we tested on. Normally such things would have been binned but I just couldn't bring myself to part with it... I can't for the life of me think why.

Yes... well. Why not?

GF Smith and Agency Wallpaper Exhibition

We recently were delighted to have GF Smith paper use ECA to host an exhibition celebrating 111 years in business. To coincide with this each of the 4 design agencies in ECA represented their agency on a roll of wall paper which was put up in our own exhibition in the Graphic Design studio along with other work from the 2nd and 3rd years. It looked superb! You've already seen some images of the Geoff wallpaper in the making so thought it only made sense to show you the final outcome.

Geoffersons at work producing the wallpaper for next week's GF Smith exhibition. It was a long day... Mio DIO it was long... but so worth it for the final outcome.

Sunday = Funday

Sunday saw the entirity of Geoff (minus the lovely Katie who was whisked away to Aberdeenshire) join together for what became the most mammoth of mammoth photo sessions. It was known early on in Geoff's creation that portraits inspired by our favourite blog, Sexy People, were to be incorporated into the collective.

Geoff's founders all had their portraits taken as a means to promote Geoff and celebrate the fun ahead (viewable here). And so it was finally time for the remaining members to have their portraits taken too.
Ultimately, this sunday activity brought about over 1,300 frames of the most STUNNING photography/modelling, mounds of gingerbread men and cupcakes, morally obscene levels of hairspray, absurd posing of the most monumental type, hula hooping, some serious 80s tunes and finally... the presence of a kindly, quiet, stuffed dog.

It was immense and the outcome will most certainly be shared here shortly!

HULA HOOP

Geoff's friday involve preparations for sunday's photoshoot. Hoops will feature somewhere, so naturally had to be tested by Geoff's safety experts Shannon, Kari and Joseph (above) whilst Geoff's good friends Shonagh, Peter, Jamie and Tamsyn also had a go (below)... purely for safety reasons, naturally.

Recently for a presentation to Edinburgh College of Art's Graphic Design department, we carried out a photoshoot to introduce the three Creative Directors to the audience. Hoping to attract some members to Geoff (uber successful), the photo-shoot resulted in some very interesting yet gorgeously sexy photos of the three of us. The photo-shoot was inspired by the Sexy People Blog. So worth a look! We will soon be holding a second photo-shoot to introduce the world to the other new members of Geoff which will take place later this week, but until then enjoy these three lovely faces....
