Today's Geoff Meeting...

Geoff had a nice meeting today to share our designs for a current brief to design a range of wrapping papers. A mixture of exciting designs and Shannon getting snappy-happy made for a typically lovely meet.

Oh "Hello" new Geoffersons

Geoff has recently welcomed some new members to its collective and has finally gotten around to taking their obligatory portraits in typical Geoff fashion! Jo and Alex, the models impressed instantly, their poses beautifully matched by a well balanced dose of attitude and makeup. It was, quite simply, delicious.
We are currently in the process of picking the final image to use as their shot, but in the meantime please enjoy these sneak peaks. Ooh, the sauciness is palpable.

Geoff Products

They're a little late, admittedly but here are the photos of our Geoff products that were pitched to a selection of Edinburgh based retail buyers. Everyone did such an amazing job coming up with their own product designs, all of which were executed smashingly. Thanks to John McGregor who took some lovely photos of the products for us.

Help! I'm an idiot!

Still trying to figure out how to upload the nice video our new Geoffersons from Boston made for us. The file is MASSIVE... I'm talking huge! My skills with anything video oriented are mighty limited, hence why I'm an idiot and why its appropriate to demonstrate this idiocy via a nice pic of myself. Still... help would be most appreciated. I'm directing this primarily at Kari who is usually the Queen of skills and info!

Geoff loves Kat and Derek!

ECA has been a host to visiting students from Boston over the last two days. Geoff were lucky enough to work with Kat and Derek (above), two lovely guys who were really lovely to work with (who are also true Geoffersons forever). After a quick introduction on Thursday we handed over a map of Edinburgh, a collection of Tunnock's teacakes and a "Welcome" pop-up creation. Over the following two days the two of them toured the city and documenting their journey to see the sights via a nicely put together film (soon to be uploaded as soon as I learn how to change it to a smaller file size)!

Thanks so much, Kat and Derek for all you wonderful work! It was most definitely a pleasure to meet you!

ECA Fashion Show, 2010

Shannon, Kari and myself were assigned a project to design proposals for the college's upcoming fashion show promotions. The work had to involve the design of a poster, a programme, a ticket and and a mailer as well as a piece of ambient advertising. After we attained lots of inspirational imagery from all of the Geoffersons, we developed a concept based on the theme of revealing the students' final collections through a series of elusive layers. Mysterious imagery became obscured by folds, disguising the photography and the model so that it becomes abstract. Alongside this the use of trace reiterated the notion of layers that were evident in the photography, creating an outcome that appealed to the viewer's curiosity to discover more about what was to come.
The project will be ongoing and further developed into a great portfolio piece, so I'm sure there will be more updates about it to come.

Well done, Roy!

Roy was awarded best in show for her products completed for our latest Geoff project. Each Geoff designed their own designer product which were all pitched to Edinburgh based retail buyers. A Dragon's Den style set up followed and ultimately lead to Roy's mugs be announced the buyers' favourite. The lush mug set was based around typography styles and became a range of mugs in regular, slimline, bold and italics. Well done, Roy!

Trying to look at typography for our fresh brief for the eca fashion show. Couldn't help playing around with the idea of rebranding the college - irrelevant to the brief but a welcome distraction from the heavy workload this Sunday!

If you are not watching the Olympics in Vancouver - you should be. Not only are CANADA at the top of the medal table at the moment, we won gold at women's hockey and are set to play USA for the gold medal Feb 28.

Our New Geofferson

Geoff Collective has a brand new Geofferson in the form of the lovely Jo. She is a fabulously talented designer who has just returned to ECA after a healthy stint in Canada on an exchange program. It is truly lovely to have a new face in Geoff to keep the collective ever fresh... expect a nice Geoff-style portrait of her in good time!
